Can you tell us about your journey as an indie musician? What inspired you to pursue a career in music?
I have been in the music industry for over 20 years. I started in the church with my Mom as my primary teacher. I grew up in a house of music and love of God. It helped shape my passion for Music as a lifestyle. Before I moved to Nashville to pursue a career I learned my discipline in Kansas,
How would you describe your unique style and sound as an artist? What sets you apart from other musicians?
I am a storyteller. I love what I do and believe in what I sing. If I don’t feel it then I wont sing it for you. So you are hearing my heart every time I perform.
Could you share some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as an indie musician and how you overcame them?
Trusting the process. The industry is full of opinions but you have to always remember your “why”. I have been overlooked, too large, too old, too quiet, too much, too little. It is always something. So trust the process and trust in your “why”.
What is your creative process like? How do you approach songwriting and composing music?
I love my process. There isn’t one hahahaha! I leave room for inspiration always. It helps that my band knows me well.
Are there any particular themes or messages that you aim to convey through your music? What inspires your lyrics?
Self-love and self-acceptance. I want people to love the skin the are in. I will always have a deep love for God and my upbringing so you will get pieces of that as well.
What are your long-term goals as an indie musician? Where do you see yourself and your music in the next few years?
Long term goals are a Symphony tour as well as an overseas tour with all of my friends. I want to go and take my village with me.
