Having performed at some of the world’s most prestigious festivals, such as North Sea Jazz, Sziget, Pinkpop, Leeds Festival, and Creamfields, Emulov has already established a name for themselves among the sprawling space of electronic music. After two decades of touring, these two hip-hop veterans rekindled their passion for organic hip-hop, diving deep into the lo-fi genre with an innovative mix of old-school live instruments and modern production techniques.
The new single ‘Mute’ reflects this approach perfectly, blending intricate, handcrafted beats with a soul and jazz edge thanks to its intricate instrumental arrangement and rich musicality. With the smooth touch of featuring artist MONODUKE, the track brings together a warming soundscape of electronic beats mixed with funk influenced live bass and some exciting and vibrant keys playing, showcasing an ear for not only lof-fi electronica but also an ability as instrumentalists well versed in blues and jazz.
Speaking about the single, Emulov shares: “Mute was a blast to work on and a delightful one stop session. After that we visited Daan Herweg aka MONODUKE who did a one-take piano solo on the spot. This took 3, but no edits anywhere…”
