Abeg, if you have not heard this track yet, what are you doing with your life?
Dax – full name Daniel Nwosu Jr. – dropped “God, Can You Hear Me?” on March 20th and e-scatter everywhere. The boy is Nigerian by blood, Ottawa-raised, and he never forgets where he comes from. That energy is all over this record.
For those who don’t know Dax well, listen. This guy used to play basketball in college. He was on his way to the league.
Then one day on a bus to a game he wrote a poem, and that was it. Careers don’t change. Now he’s got platinum records, and the whole world is feeling his music. Nigerian parents raised a bad guy no cap.
The beat on this one is calm but it carries weight. Piano, some reverb, light trap drums sitting underneath everything. Very spiritual. Very deep. The kind of song you play when the night is quiet and your mind is heavy.
By verse three he’s checking the church, calling out how they water down the truth to keep everybody comfortable. Dax no send anybody. Then he talks about carrying pain on the inside while showing the world a straight face. Every African child who ever had to “be strong” for the family felt that bar in their chest.
This is not the Dax that made “Dear Alcohol” go platinum. This version is rawer. More personal. Like he sat down, said make I just open up everything, and pressed record.

The guy is Naija to the bone. And this song proves it. Pure heart, pure truth, pure blessing to god.
