Indie folk-pop artist Callie Young, a Southwest Colorado native now based in Nashville, is excited to announce the release of her new single, “Training Wheels”. Known for blending folk and country roots with the experimental edge of indie pop, Callie’s sound captures raw vulnerability and emotion inspired by real-life experiences.
“Training Wheels” is an intimate reflection on growing up, framed as a metaphor for life’s challenges. Callie explains: “Growing up feels like being thrown on a two-wheel bike without training wheels. I wanted the bridge and instrumental section to feel like flying down a hill uncontrollably—like anything could happen.”
The single was written with a powerhouse team of collaborators: producer Jonathan Beard, and songwriters Callie, Jonathan Beard, Mason Crisp, and Skyler Mayes. Behind-the-scenes footage from the writing session captures the organic creation of the song. The music video, filmed in Franklin, TN, features Callie riding a pink bike with training wheels, perfectly encapsulating the song’s nostalgic and introspective themes.
Callie’s creative team includes collaborators Beard, and Mayes, who co-wrote and produced her previous release, “falling either way”. Together, they bring a dynamic energy that shines through in her music.
