After a year without any new music, Joshua Tree CA, industrial, Doom Bass outfit Antania are back with a new release and/ their second studio album, ‘3AM 666’. While the tracks within are full of contempt for humanity with every song being about torment, the whole thing is a fun romp with power and catchy industrial styling and a serious brutality heavy edge. It is one of the heaviest industrial metal releases ever. Incredibly original. Waves of saw bass mixed with bass music and death metal merging together. It’s done in a way that the metal head might like this much more than the acid techno fan. I haven’t heard rhythms this heavy since early Korn.
3AM 666 plays up its industrial death bass nature. From the start, Antania put out an album that features heavy, chuggy bass lines that clash well with the thumping and grinding synths add to the intensity of each song. Through all of its darkness and extensively heavy, hard hitting moments, there are also some dark and dystopian themes but, true to the basic elements and themes of bass music death Metal, these elements are captured in a nostalgic, throwback manner. We even get a ‘Cold’ Static-X cover with blast beats.

When it comes to the musicality of the album, things are layered and full. The album is full of crushing saw bass, pulsating synths, and Kali Mortem’s signature vocals, which range from snarls to growls to screams.
When it comes to the musicality of the album, things are layered and full. The album is full of crushing saw bass, pulsating synths, and Kali Mortem’s signature vocals, which range from snarls to growls to screams. Her voice is more technical here then in “The God Complex”.
“Fishtro,” the opening track, sets the tone for the album with heavy synth work and an overall air of brooding and dread. It’s also about Albert Fish. That being said, “BloodLove” is probably my favorite song on the album, as it’s one of those catchy choruses you can’t get out of your head, “I am trying to get there”, it’s after BloodLove that you realize your into some deep trail blazing stuff. “Pigz” is another standout due to the repetitive, almost droning heavy bass work. “Stalker” and “Sewn” are other standout tracks, due to the heavy pounding bass lines. We also have three dark ambient “Hell drone” tracks that could be some of the darkest dark ambient out there. 3AM 666 has something to it, it’s insanely original and can’t wait to see Antania live. Not for the meek Antania drops a near perfect release. Blackened, Heavy and Evil fun. The production and song writing blows out their last release “The God Complex”. 10/10 Don’t miss this! One of the best industrial metal (doom bass) releases of the last decade.
