Drum and bass artist Banny Decks returns with his new single, “You Got That Something”, released via Now Listen. The track captures his unmistakable blend of old school foundations and modern drum and bass energy.
Hailing from east London, Banny’s path into music is rooted in real-life experience. Before releasing music, he built and ran a successful plumbing business, balancing long working days with late nights in the studio. Determined to refine his craft, he trained at London Sound Academy in Camden, developing a focused and professional approach to production. In July 2025, he stepped away from plumbing entirely to pursue music full-time, now working from his own studio in London.
Growing up during the ‘90s and ‘00s – widely considered the golden era of jungle, drum and bass and garage – Banny was shaped by the sounds and culture of that time. His journey began as an MC on the pirate radio circuit, before performing in clubs across London, Essex and the Greek islands during the summer months.
“You Got That Something” reflects both his past and present influences. Drawing inspiration from classic jungle and drum and bass while embracing the energy of today’s scene, the track showcases his winning approach: simple but effective drums, a heavy yet warm bassline and a catchy female-led vocal that keeps the track uplifting and accessible.
Produced by Banny himself, the track is a celebration of individuality – a tribute to people from all walks of life who carry that extra spark. As Banny explains: “With ‘You Got That Something’, I wanted to blend old school and new school drum and bass sounds. I kept the drums simple, paired with a heavy but easy-to-listen-to bassline that still has movement and warmth. The catchy vocal was important to me because I wanted the track to feel uplifting and accessible, not overcomplicated. The song is really about celebrating people who have that something extra special – people from all walks of life who stand out from the crowd in their own way.”
With “You Got That Something”, Banny Decks continues to define a sound that is authentic, energetic and deeply connected to his east London roots – unmistakably his own. “You Got That Something” is available to buy/stream now on all platforms.
