Chris Wong is a Dublin native whose music is gaining traction in the industry with his unique genre-blending style and distinct individuality. Fresh from playing at SoFar Sounds London, his latest release “Been Here For Days” has caught the attention of music lovers and industry figures alike. The song follows the success of his debut single “Talents” which has already amassed over 12,000 streams since its release in late August 2022.
Wong first made a name for himself last year when he was the only act to perform at the Forbidden Fruit festival without any music released. His performance drew the attention of music enthusiasts and earned him a booking at All Together Now where he impressed yet again. Wong then went on to play at Ireland Music Week 2022 where he was selected from thousands of applicants to represent emerging Irish talent. This led to a sold-out show at The Grand Social where he held his own in front of a packed-out audience.
“Been Here For Days” showcases Wong’s genre-blending style with a stunning lead synth line and tight midi bass and drum production. The lyrics embody entrapment and frustration, adding depth to the catchy hook. As his solo career gains momentum, Wong is also working on an EP release for this summer. He is also a member of indie-rock group Papa Romeo, who continue to excite audiences with their performances at sold-out venues.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Wong is hosting an event on Sunday 16th April at Aerial Cirque, Dublin called “And Breathe”. The event combines breathwork and music for an enhanced musical experience for both the artist and attendee. Wong will perform original songs, including his latest release, at the event.
The accompanying music video for “Been Here For Days” is set in an 80’s style lakehouse and was directed by Aoife Leonard. Wong collaborated with Big Style Media House (Suki Waterhouse) on the shoot, adding a professional touch to the video.
Chris Wong is a promising young artist with a unique style and talent that is catching the attention of music lovers and industry insiders. With his debut EP on the horizon and his impressive live performances, he is definitely one to watch in the music scene.
