Fresh off a busy year of touring and the critical success of her debut album Something Bigger, Mayo native Sarah Keane is back with her latest single, ‘Katy’, .
Rooted in the kind of everyday moment most of us overlook, ‘Katy’ details a late-night phone call between Sarah and her friend Katy. “There’s an old saying that when it rains, it pours,” Sarah says. “This was one of those days. I was ranting and raving for hours… you can probably hear the madness in it. Katy, as always, knew what to say. Everyone needs a Katy in their lives.”
Produced by Dave Skelton, ‘Katy’ continues Keane’s now-signature approach of turning personal, often quiet moments into songs that speak loud truths. Laced with humour, warmth, and a touch of chaos, the track is both an ode to friendship and a snapshot of emotional overload in real time.
Known for her powerful vocals and disarming lyricism, Sarah Keane’s music sits somewhere between folk intimacy and pop accessibility. Her previous singles have landed her on RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends, BBC, and on the radar of critics across Ireland and the UK, with Hot Press calling her debut album “an enormously compelling listen”.
A natural performer, Keane has supported artists like Aimee Carty, CMAT, Hothouse Flowers, and Junior Brother, and graced stages from the Cork Opera House to The Water Rats in London. Following a sold-out Dublin headline show earlier this year, ‘Katy’ marks a new chapter in a fast-growing career.
