Pisgah – Faultlines: Pisgah, the solo project of London-based American singer-songwriter Brittney Jenkins, announces the release of her second full-length album, Faultlines. The record follows her acclaimed 2022 debut Call Louder for Me When You Call and marks a bold artistic leap forward, balancing shimmering indie rock textures with deeply personal songwriting.

Blending the introspective lyricism of Julia Jacklin and Ex:Re with the raw emotional weight of Big Thief and Indigo de Souza, Faultlines is both sonically expansive and emotionally unflinching—a meditation on generational trauma, loss, and the fault lines that shape who we become.

Faultlines was written and recorded by Brittney Jenkins in her home studio and co-produced, mixed, and mastered by Dan Duszynski (Loma, Jess Williamson). Across eight tracks, Jenkins weaves together reflective storytelling and evocative sonic landscapes that range from euphoric electric guitar layers to stark, haunting minimalism.

Faultlines draws inspiration from a wide constellation of sources: thunderstorms over desert landscapes, the photographs of Francesca Woodman and Gregory Crewdson, the quiet devastation of Aimee Mann, and the mythic resonance of Hecate, goddess of crossroads.

Visual art also shaped the album’s sound: Jenkins’ academic background in art history led her to create a moodboard before recording, a juxtaposition of shadow and light that mirrors the record’s duality. The final cover image, taken on the north shore of Utah’s Great Salt Lake, captures the album’s essence: transformation through turbulence.

“Faultlines explores where fault lies when our relationships, with others and with ourselves, break down completely,” Jenkins explains. “It’s about the before and after moments that divide a life, and how you rebuild from them.”

About Pisgah

Pisgah is the creative moniker of Brittney Jenkins, a songwriter originally from the American South who has lived in Greater London since 2015. Her music sits at the crossroads of alternative rock, indie folk, and dream pop, intimate yet cinematic, fragile yet fierce. Jenkins began writing songs in 2015 after teaching herself guitar, and released her debut Call Louder for Me When You Call in 2022. With Faultlines, she refines her vision, expanding her sonic palette and deepening her lyrical focus.

Track by Track

Opening with layered guitars that crash and shimmer like the storm its title evokes, “Cumulonimbus” explores the weight of inherited trauma and the way family histories can shape us. Jenkins pairs introspective lyrics with euphoric melodies, capturing both the beauty and the ache of breaking old cycles.

A haunting portrayal of self-abandonment in pursuit of someone else’s approval, “Favor” unfolds like a slow-motion collapse. Jenkins threads imagery of plane crashes and nuclear meltdowns through urgent percussion and distorted guitars, ending on a devastating realization that no one is coming to catch her fall.

The emotional centerpiece of the record, “Bone to Pick” confronts the long shadow of sexual assault and the silence that followed it. Sparse instrumentation gives space to Jenkins’ raw vocal delivery, evoking the uneasy process of reclaiming a narrative long buried in shame.

Written in memory of Jenkins’ grandmothers, “5ft2” is both elegy and love song. Over glistening guitar tones, she reflects on their quiet strength and defiance within a patriarchal world, honoring them as the foundations she stands on.

Built around minimalist guitar and haunting percussion, “Splintering” is the album’s most elusive song—a nocturnal reflection that feels like wandering a deserted street at midnight. It captures the moment where meaning fractures, yet something beautiful still glows in the dark.

A cinematic alt-country track that swells with the momentum of a road trip, “Bend to Break” depicts the liberation that follows devastation. Jenkins’ guitars thunder like a storm on the horizon as she drives away from the wreckage, reclaiming her story mile by mile.

The spiritual sequel to “Bend to Break,” this song finds Jenkins stepping fully into her freedom. Bright electric guitars and driving percussion underscore lyrics about distance, perspective, and the clarity that comes once you’ve finally escaped what was holding you back.

Closing the record in quiet reverence, “Song for Jason Molina (Cold Rain)” serves as both tribute and exorcism. Inspired by Molina’s stark, soulful songwriting, Jenkins channels his spirit in a final act of release—letting go of the past and stepping into the light after the storm.
