A three-year labor of love blending country and indie rock, featuring songs shaped by decades of songwriting, heartbreak, and memories of home.
[Tivoli, NY]. Singer-songwriter Miles Taylour announces the release of Dutchess, a 10-song album arriving October 23. The culmination of three years of recording and, in some cases, more than 20 years of songwriting, Dutchess is a deeply personal collection of stories that explore love, loss, friendship, self-discovery, and the moments and places that shape who we become.
Blending the storytelling traditions of country music with the raw energy and emotional depth of indie rock, Dutchess moves between heartfelt love songs, reflections on the past, and narratives that capture the complexities of being human. At its core, the record is about connection: the people we hold close, the ones we lose along the way, and the memories that stay with us long after the moment has passed.
The 10-song album was recorded in Kingston NY at Anthrophonic Studios, with a trio of musicians, featuring Miles Taylour on guitar and vocals, Max Liebman on bass and backing vocals, and Thomas Wandell on drums. Together, the three musicians create a sound that balances the intimacy of Miles’ singer-songwriter storytelling with the energy and chemistry of a live, three-piece band.
The first single, “Right Track” (out September 25th) is a driving indie-rock track about sharing the road with the person you love and about learning to appreciate what you have rather than longing for what you don’t. The lyrics and vocal performance are direct and conversational while the music moves the track forward with a loose, rootsy, country-rock vibe.
Spanning decades of songwriting and years of collaboration, Dutchess brings together a collection of songs that feel both deeply personal and universally relatable. From the pain of losing someone to the hope of finding the right person, Miles Taylour’s upcoming record captures the beauty, heartbreak, and uncertainty of the human experience. With its October 23 release, Dutchess marks a defining chapter in Taylour’s musical journey, bringing years of stories, memories, and musical exploration together into one cohesive record.
