American rapper Megan Thee Stallion has secured a five-year restraining order against Canadian artist Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a ten-year prison sentence for assaulting her in 2020.
The ruling follows claims from Megan’s legal team that Lanez has continued a “campaign of harassment” from behind bars.
Appearing via video before a Los Angeles courtroom, Megan detailed the ongoing trauma stemming from the attack, in which Lanez fired five bullets, wounding both her feet. She described how the harassment—both direct and through social media—has deepened her anxiety and fears.
“I haven’t been at peace since I was shot,” Megan said in a tearful testimony. “I just really want the harassment from the person who shot me to stop… I feel like when he gets out of jail, it’s going to be worse. I feel like maybe he’ll shoot me again, and maybe this time, I won’t make it.”
Judge Richard Bloom acknowledged the impact of the assault, stating, “With a violent act like that, there’s a ripple effect that continues on. Ms. Pete’s testimony is that the ripple effect has been significant.”
The restraining order mandates that Lanez remain at least 100 yards away from Megan and prohibits him from harassing, intimidating, or threatening her until January 9, 2030.
