ABOUT “MIGHT BE A GOD THING” | Kimberly Dawn’s new single “Might Be a God Thing” reflects on the moments in life that eventually reveal why things unfolded the way they did. Through vivid storytelling and deeply personal lyricism, the song explores the idea that even disappointment, heartbreak, and unexpected detours can lead to something meaningful on the other side.
The song opens with a simple moment that quickly becomes symbolic: “Got a nail in my tire, had to pull off the interstate / I almost missed that mountain view, ‘cause I was running late / You know it was the first day of spring / Might’ve been a God thing.” From there, Dawn builds a song rooted in reflection, perspective, and quiet faith.
Speaking about the track, she shares: “We wrote this song over two years ago, and the second the title was said out loud, we all just knew… that was it. It came from those moments in life where something happens and the only way to explain it is, ‘that was a God thing.’”
The chorus broadens the message into something universally relatable: “You can call it fate / Call it coincidence / We’re all talking ‘bout the same thing.” It’s a reminder that people may explain life’s full-circle moments differently, but the feeling behind them remains the same.
One of the song’s most emotional moments arrives as Dawn reflects on saying a beautiful see you later, “The doctor said we got there just in time / I think Dad must’ve held on so we could say goodbye / Then he got his angel wings / And I know it was a God thing.” The lyric lands with both heartbreak and comfort, capturing the song’s ability to hold grief and gratitude in the same space.
