Colby – Gone To Bed: Colby! is an emerging artist from Fort Worth, Texas, known for her alternative pop sound and genuine storytelling. Despite battling severe dyslexia, which required intensive therapy, colby! found refuge in the creative arts, eventually leading her to write music alongside her brother, RJ Johnson. Her music has already made a significant impact on major streaming platforms, with a six-track EP set to release in November 2024.
Raised in an environment filled with live music, colby! cultivated a variety of creative passions, including singing, writing, baking, painting, and performing. Diagnosed with severe dyslexia at the age of eight, she spent three years in intensive therapy learning how to read. This journey deepened her connection to the arts, and she began singing and writing songs from a young age.
At 14, colby! started co-writing music with her producer and brother, RJ Johnson, a Berklee College of Music graduate. Knowing that traditional college was not a fit for her due to her dyslexia, colby! found a unique way to engage with RJ’s education, contributing to his songwriting seminars and vocal production courses. Their collaboration was so impressive that RJ’s teachers praised their work, expressing eagerness to purchase their first album.
Together, colby! and RJ create music that resonates with a wide audience. Her sound is a blend of pop and alternative influences, drawing inspiration from artists like Fiona Apple, Amy Winehouse, and Lily Allen, with comparisons to Lorde and Billie Eilish.
colby!’s debut single, released on May 28th, 2024, has already garnered significant attention, earning spots on Spotify’s “Local Pulse” Playlist in Dallas and Apple’s “New In Alternative” Playlist. This early success marks a promising start to her music career.

“My goal is to create music that people can scream in their car to, offering an escape from discouraging situations,” says colby!.
