Chance the Rapper – Tree Ft Smino & Lil Wayne: Chance the Rapper brings together Lil Wayne and Smino on his latest release, “Tree” — a soulful, stirring anthem rooted in legacy, resilience, and the unshakable strength of Black womanhood.
More than just a collaboration, “Tree” unfolds as a layered reflection on community, culture, and the people who hold it all together. Chance sets the tone with poignant verses that speak directly to systemic injustice, while celebrating the nurturing and protective spirit of Black women — the backbone of so many families and movements.
Lil Wayne and Smino follow with vivid, imaginative lyricism, offering up verses that blend sharp social commentary with playful rhythm and poetic depth. Their voices, while distinct, echo a shared reverence: this is music as testimony, as tribute, as truth.

The visual, directed by Chance himself, brings those themes to life. Shot inside a Black woman-owned dispensary in Los Angeles, the video begins in joy — a room full of Black women laughing, sharing space. When two white police officers enter the scene, the women seamlessly transform their environment into a serene flower shop. The shift is powerful and symbolic: a reclaiming of narrative, safety, and power.
“Tree” also serves as a window into Chance’s broader creative vision — Star Line, an upcoming multidisciplinary project inspired by Marcus Garvey’s Black Star Line. With it, Chance aims to trace his spiritual and artistic journey across the Black diaspora, creating a body of work as much about healing as it is about history.
In every note and frame, “Tree” is a celebration — of the roots that ground us, the women who raise us, and the futures we continue to shape.
