Meet Maniche Bennett, a singer with a story that blends different kinds of music with powerful messages. We caught up with her to talk about her latest song, “I am a Conqueror,” and learn more about her musical journey.

Maniche wrote “I am a Conqueror” during a tough time in her life when she felt alone. The song came to her as a way of finding strength and overcoming challenges. It’s a reminder that, even in tough times, we have the power to conquer our struggles.

Maniche used to make different kinds of music before, but now she focuses on music that reflects her faith in Jesus. She shares how this change brought her a sense of freedom and purpose. With her music, she wants to remind people that they’re not alone, and they have the power to be strong and face challenges.

If you’re new to Christian music or feeling a bit down, Maniche hopes her music can lift your spirits. She believes in making music that’s fun and upbeat, something that can bring joy and hope, especially for those exploring Christianity.

In our chat, Maniche also talks about her journey from using the name Ma’Niche to embracing her real name, Maniche Bennett. For her, it’s like being born again and feeling blessed.

Maniche shares a simple yet powerful message for aspiring artists: Don’t let others decide your path; let God guide you. Trust that God will give you good ideas and bring the right people into your life. Keep chasing what God has put in your heart.

As she looks ahead, Maniche promises more uplifting and fun music, collaborations, and maybe even some awards – all with the hope of bringing joy and positivity to people’s lives through her music.

Congratulations on the release of “I am a Conqueror”! Can you share the inspiration behind the song and how it came to be?
I wrote this song during one of the darkest times in my life; I was crying in the middle of the Night, and the Lord began to encourage me that I am not alone and that I can overcome all things with His grace. Soon I began humming and singing “ I am a Conqueror”.

Your journey has taken a significant shift from creating secular music to now being a vessel for the glory of Jesus. Can you tell us about the spiritual awakening that led to this transformation in your music and life?
I honestly just got tired of the same thing every day; I got tired of feeling so much disappointment and hurt from close people who I thought got me but didn’t. I tried to take it into my own hands, and that only made things worse. When I gave my life to Jesus, I learned that He intercedes for us, He felt what we feel now on
earth, and He died for our sins. Before Jesus, the Lord was not that merciful, but with His son who died for us on the cross, we have found grace and mercy, which brings me to tears. Someone dies for others, not just that but our wrongdoing, and can still love me the same. I am not alone. I find strength in Jesus.

“I am a Conqueror” is described as a self-motivating track for those feeling low or stuck. How do you hope your music will impact and uplift your audience during challenging times?
Its reminder. Though it is difficult now, you already have the power to overcome it. Everything is not by chance, everything you go through has already been written, so find the strength that because it has already been written. You have the authority to be strong and walk like a warrior who has already won the battle.

You’ve opened shows for renowned artists like Elephant Man and Lady Saw during your secular phase. How has your past experiences in the industry influenced your approach to creating music with a Christian message now?
It is actually really different. When I did do secular music, I felt like I had no control, I was not free. With Christian music, I feel like I can breathe and talk about what is in my heart and touch lives. I feel free, and I have a purpose.

Your music is deeply rooted in Afro-beat and Dancehall. How do you merge these genres with Christian themes to create a unique and spiritually uplifting sound?
A beat is a beat; that’s the sound that catches the ears, but it is all about the message.

Transitioning from your former stage name, Ma’Niche, to embracing your given name, Maniche Bennett, signifies a rebirth in identity and purpose. Can you share more about this decision and what it represents for you?
‘Ma’Niche’ was a name I could hide behind; my God-given name Maniche Bennett is what God allowed to happen to name me. Maniche means “the great”, and Bennett was given to me when I got married which means “blessing”.

In your own words, “God is in control and what is for you will be for you.” How has your faith shaped your perspective on your musical journey and life in general?
Because I was given the gift to sing, I was born to worship HIM. When I sing, I sing to HIM. I adore and recognize WHO HE IS.

As you continue to navigate Afro-beat and Dancehall, how do you see your music becoming a channel for spiritual connection and a source of hope for your listeners?
It’s a fun, upbeat feeling. It gets you out of the funk, and it is a nice transition if you are
new to Christianity.

What message or piece of advice would you like to share with aspiring artists who may be going through their own journey of self-discovery and transformation in their music?
Don’t listen to the people around you; God is the one navigating your life, not man. The Lord will give you witty ideas and will place you with the right people. Don’t stop chasing what God has already placed in your heart.

Looking ahead, what can your audience expect from Maniche Bennett in terms of future projects and musical endeavors?
More uplifting fun music, hopefully, some collaborations and albums, and awards in Jesus name lol.
