Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter ZK Jade returns with a new single titled Good Lover, a reflective and atmospheric track that dives into the emotional complexity of modern relationships. The song explores moments where physical closeness exists without real emotional grounding, capturing the confusion that can come from connections that feel intimate but remain unbalanced.
Built on moody pop production with touches of R&B and cinematic dark pop, the track highlights ZK Jade’s ability to turn personal reflection into storytelling that feels relatable and honest. She co-wrote and co-produced the single with longtime collaborator HILLOC, continuing a creative partnership that has helped shape her distinct sound over the years.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, ZK Jade explains, “It came from observing how people move in relationships today. Sometimes someone can feel close to you in a moment, but still not really be emotionally present. That contrast can be very confusing.”
ZK Jade’s background spans multiple cultures, with roots in Italian, Swiss, Eurasian, and British heritage. Growing up between Europe and the United States, she developed a broad perspective that continues to influence both her music and artistic identity. After spending part of her early life in Switzerland, she later moved to Boston to study and pursue music, where she met HILLOC. Their collaboration became a key part of her development as an artist, blending pop songwriting with darker tones and layered production.
Following college, a move to Atlanta gave her early exposure to the realities of the music industry, experiences that later shaped the emotional honesty found in her writing. A later relocation to Los Angeles marked another shift, both personally and creatively.

“Being in LA made me more direct in how I express myself,” she says. “I stopped holding back in my writing and started leaning into themes like confidence, femininity, attraction, and self-awareness in a more open way.”
Her recent work reflects that evolution, with songs that explore relationships, identity, and emotional boundaries through a clear and unfiltered lens. Influenced by artists such as Tate McRae, Billie Eilish, and Dua Lipa, ZK Jade’s sound blends elements of Y2K pop, alternative pop, dark pop, disco-inspired textures, and pop-R&B.
Alongside her solo work, she has also built experience as a songwriter for other artists, contributing to projects for R&B singer Sammie, Eurovision participant Lindita, and artist-influencer Soma Chaya.
Outside the studio, she draws inspiration from everyday life, including dance, cooking, and observing human behaviour, often turning small real-world moments into creative ideas.
With Good Lover, ZK Jade continues to refine her voice as an emerging artist in alternative pop, focusing on the emotional space between desire, self-protection, and honesty in modern relationships.
