SXHYLER – LOOKING: Rising R&B artist SXHYLER has officially arrived with her debut single, “LOOKING” a captivating track that blends urban-funk energy, disco-inspired vocals, and introspective storytelling. Now available on all streaming platforms, “LOOKING” explores the complexities of keeping up with exes on social media while grappling with self-confidence and emotional intelligence.
As her first release, SXHYLER describes “LOOKING” as a deeply personal record that captures a sense of timelessness. “This song holds a special place in my heart because it embodies something most artists yearn for,” she explains. “I think the record is beyond me in a way.”
Driven by a hypnotic bass line and clever lyricism, “LOOKING” balances vulnerability with quiet strength. A standout lyric, “Put a diamond in dull metal, tell me how that work,” showcases SXHYLER’s sharp, introspective songwriting, touching on the contrast between self-worth and the illusion of online personas.
“While the song is about feeling disappointed in a past partner’s dating choices, it’s also about recognizing their value and re-examining how we perceive ourselves in these situations,” she shares. “I wanted to approach this concept from a place of dissatisfaction but still acknowledge their worth—it’s a fresh perspective.”
Blending R&B roots with alternative influences like funk and disco, SXHYLER offers a bold new sound that is as danceable as it is thought-provoking. With “LOOKING,” she challenges listeners to rethink the illusions created by social media and embrace authentic emotional intelligence.
