Port Harcourt rising star Surrex has released his debut album Letter From Doha on 17th April 2026, marking a significant milestone in his journey as a storyteller in African music.

Blending the gritty energy of his upbringing in Port Harcourt with the fresh perspectives gained from international travels, the album represents a powerful bridge between local roots and the global stage. Inspired by a transformative trip to Doha, Qatar, Letter From Doha captures the shift in outlook that comes from venturing far from home while staying deeply connected to where it all began.

Surrex brings his signature Afro Gist sound to the forefront once again, delivering calm rap flows layered with complex punchlines that feel as effortless and conversational as a late-night gist with a close friend. The project explores themes of resilience, unfiltered honesty, ambition, societal pressure, and personal growth, creating a reflective mood that carries the weight of real-life narratives.

The album was recorded across multiple locations, including Qatar, Lagos, and a substantial portion in Port Harcourt, reflecting the nomadic yet grounded nature of the creative process. Surrex gives special recognition to producer Susshi, who contributed to 12 of the 14 tracks and played a key role in shaping and refining the distinctive Afro Gist sound. Additional features include Kokoz Beat on Innocent Beauty and Phrizsound on the album intro Isakaba.

Hailing from Port Harcourt, Nigeria, Surrex has steadily built his reputation through sharp lyricism and authentic storytelling. His musical journey began with freestyling in secondary school as early as 2015, gaining local buzz during his university years around 2018. He made his official industry entry in 2021 with the track Provide, followed by his debut project The Wavegod EP in 2023. After Provide in Feb 2021, he dropped One BTC in April 2021, followed by Wavegod EP in September 2024. Then the prequel EP LETTER FROM DOHA, dropped in March 2025
