Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Mya Angelique returns with “Teenage Popstar,“ a vibrant pop-rock anthem that captures the excitement, uncertainty, and emotional rollercoaster of growing up in a world where success, identity, and social validation often seem closely intertwined. Honest, energetic, and instantly relatable, the single offers a thoughtful reflection on the dreams many young people chase and the personal growth that comes from discovering who you are beyond the spotlight.

Built around infectious melodies and emotionally sincere songwriting, Teenage Popstar follows the journey of someone navigating ambition, self-doubt, and the constant desire to fit in while holding onto their individuality. Rather than simply celebrating the fantasy of fame, the song explores the emotional weight that often comes with seeking recognition and learning that self-worth cannot be measured by the opinions of others.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Mya explains, “Teenage Popstar is about wanting to be seen while trying not to lose yourself in the process. It’s a reflection on the fantasies we create, the pressure we put on ourselves, and the realization that growing up means learning who you are beyond everyone else’s expectations.”

Music has been at the centre of Mya’s life from an early age. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, she has spent more than fourteen years developing her craft, beginning her formal training at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico before continuing her musical education in New York. She is currently studying Music Composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she continues to refine her skills as a songwriter, composer, and performer.

Following the release of her debut EP, Paper Girls, a collection of songs written throughout her teenage years, Mya has continued to establish herself as an artist who values authenticity above all else. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Abrams, Lorde, and Maisie Peters, she combines emotionally rich storytelling with polished pop and pop-rock production, creating songs that speak to themes of identity, friendship, vulnerability, and personal growth.

With Teenage Popstar, Mya enters an exciting new chapter in her artistic journey. While maintaining the emotional honesty that has become a defining characteristic of her music, the single introduces a bolder, more confident energy that reflects both the excitement and uncertainty of adolescence. It’s a song that embraces imperfection, celebrates self-discovery, and reminds listeners that finding your own voice is often the greatest achievement of all.

For anyone who has ever dreamed big while wondering where they truly belong, Teenage Popstar delivers a heartfelt soundtrack that is both uplifting and deeply relatable, further establishing Mya Angelique as one of the most promising young voices in contemporary pop.
