Indie singer-songwriter Meghan Pulles takes us on a journey with her latest single and music video “The Midheaven” from her upcoming LP. The single is now available on all digital streaming platforms.
Meghan Pulles invites listeners into a deeply personal reflection on grief, ambition, and hope with her stunning new single, “The Midheaven.” Built around delicate piano, sweeping strings, and cinematic crescendos, the song explores the emotional reality of pursuing your calling while carrying the weight of profound loss.

Inspired by the astrological concept of the Midheaven – the point that represents one’s purpose, destiny, and public life – Pulles transforms celestial imagery into an intimate portrait of resilience. Throughout the song, recurring lines like “The moon hides behind the night sky,” and “The gloom lies in front of your eyes,” paint a haunting emotional landscape, while the unforgettable refrain, “Far away, the Midheaven lies / Miles to stay, the Midheaven cries,” serves as both the song’s emotional centerpiece and its powerful, lingering hook.

The verses capture the quiet unraveling that often accompanies grief, opening with the striking lines, “When your words lost power / Took the final hour,” before moving through moments where “your heart goes sour” and “your mind goes sour.” Rather than offering easy answers, Pulles embraces the complexity of healing, returning again and again to the soaring chorus as a reminder that purpose can still exist, even when it feels painfully out of reach.

About the song, Pulles shares: “The Midheaven was written from the realization that stepping into the life you’ve always dreamed of does not make you immune to grief. As my career continues to grow, I have found myself holding excitement and heartbreak at the same time, watching parts of my world fall away while still believing something beautiful is ahead.”

By pairing poetic lyricism with sweeping instrumentation, “The Midheaven” becomes more than a song – it becomes a meditation on holding joy and sorrow in the same hands. The repeated chorus, ethereal vocalizations, and evocative imagery leave listeners with a reminder that even when the destination feels “far away,” hope continues to shine through the darkness.

ABOUT MEGHAN PULLES | Nashville singer-songwriter Meghan Pulles describes her music as “emo-positive,” blending folk, pop, and Americana into a sound that creates space for reflection and connection. Often compared to the lyrical brilliance of Regina Spektor and the introspective grace of Joni Mitchell, Pulles has quickly established herself as one of the genre’s most compelling emerging voices.

Her debut album, ear baby, released via Aurally Records in 2023, has garnered more than 150,000 streams and earned coverage from EARMILK, Obscure Sound, Music Crowns, and Broadway World. In 2024, Pulles was nominated for Artist of the Year (Folk/Americana) at the Josie Music Awards, and her work appeared on the first-round ballot for the 2025 Grammy Awards in the categories of Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Album of the Year. With her sophomore album arriving in 2026, Pulles continues to build momentum as an artist unafraid to explore life’s most complex emotions through song.

“The Midheaven” was written by Meghan Pulles Cavanaugh, produced by Meghan Pulles and Danny Vinton, mixed by Danny Vinton, and mastered by Dominic Delore of Rainy Day Mastering. Pulles performs both the lead and background vocals, while Vinton also contributes synth. The single’s cover art was created by Cayce Campaign of Roses of Fire Photography.
