Every artist reaches a point where the struggle starts to make sense. For Nigerian Afro-fusion artist Dozi, that moment is DOZAGE, an EP released on 30th September 2026. The title says it all. DOZAGE is Dozi’s time, his age and his era. Built around melody, emotion and authentic African storytelling, the project captures an artist at the point where ambition meets experience.
Each song on DOZAGE tells a different part of a larger story. The highs and lows of chasing a dream, the complexities of love, moments of pain and the determination to keep moving forward all have their place. Dozi describes music as the best way for him to express himself, drawing on personal experiences, pain and a deep passion for his craft. Listeners can expect something relatable, emotional and honest, from expressions of love to real-life experiences.
Musically, the EP sits comfortably in the evolving world of Afro-fusion. It pairs Afrobeats rhythms with melodic songwriting, while the basic elements of Afrobeats and highlife shape the production. Rather than relying on energy alone, Dozi lets the music breathe, creating moments that feel personal yet remain accessible to a wider audience.
The project features a collaboration with Brown Joel, whose appearance adds another dimension to the EP’s journey. Production and writing contributions come from Sukaaa, Nelxn Ville and Slashbeats. Four songs were recorded at home, with the rest completed in studios at different times and locations. Tracks including Slow, Imagination and Monica were recorded early in 2025.
DOZAGE builds on a run of earlier releases that have shown different sides of Dozi’s artistry, including Magic, Blood on the Street, Lie, Jabulani and Sidechick. Together, they laid the foundation for the sound and perspective now expanded on the EP. Here, the pain becomes perspective, the hard work becomes fuel and the uncertainty becomes belief.
