American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Austyn Gillette returns with his new five-track EP, Moments, a heartfelt collection that blends alternative and indie influences with honest storytelling and memorable melodies. The project highlights Gillette’s ability to pair introspective lyrics with rich instrumentation, creating songs that are both emotionally resonant and instantly engaging. Featuring infectious guitar riffs, vintage-inspired synthesizers, and his distinctive vocal delivery, Moments further establishes him as one of the most thoughtful voices in today’s independent music scene.
Originally from Los Angeles, Gillette began writing songs as a teenager while building a successful professional skateboarding career. As his passion for music grew, he developed a sound shaped by alternative rock, indie music, and hip-hop, always aiming to create songs that inspire listeners to think, feel, and connect on a deeper level.
His solo debut, Sensorisk (2018), introduced audiences to his conversational songwriting style and cinematic storytelling. In 2021, after relocating to New York City, he wrote his second album, Words We Won’t Wear, during one of the city’s coldest winters. The album expanded his artistic vision with more refined songwriting and deeper subject matter, leading to a West Coast tour alongside Cat Power.
Gillette’s creative evolution has continued in recent years. His 2023 single, “Leaning into Your Palms,” was accompanied by a music video directed by David Findlay that premiered on NOWNESS before being screened at film festivals around the world. In 2024, he collaborated with the band Tennis on the singles “Fingers to the Flame” and “Out of Our Heads.” A move to Paris in 2025 brought fresh inspiration through travel, culture, and self-reflection, experiences that ultimately shaped Moments, recorded at Rancho Deluxe in Nashville after his return to Los Angeles in 2026.

Inspired by a year spent traveling across Europe, Moments explores themes of fulfillment, personal growth, love, and self-awareness. The EP also draws inspiration from the Swedish philosophy of “lagom,” the idea of finding balance by embracing “just the right amount.” Through these songs, Gillette reflects on modern ambition, the search for contentment, and the importance of appreciating the present.
The EP opens with “Is It Enough,” a thoughtful examination of fulfillment and the endless pursuit of material success. “Splinters” follows with an uplifting perspective on endings and the opportunities they create. “Moments Last” captures the excitement and vulnerability of falling in love, while “In Due Time” offers words of encouragement to a close friend searching for the strength to move forward. Closing the project, “Imminent” serves as a reflective reminder that change, although often uncertain, is an essential part of growth.
With Moments, Austyn Gillette delivers an intimate and beautifully crafted collection of songs that encourages listeners to pause, reflect, and appreciate life’s ever-changing journey. It is an EP that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable, reaffirming Gillette’s gift for turning everyday experiences into meaningful music.
