A three-way collaboration, Tú began with a clear vision. Aran knew the kind of lyrics he wanted to sing and exactly who he wanted to write them for. Once the lyrics were sent over, before a single note of music had been laid down, the song already had a spark that told everyone involved they were onto something special.
The finished track is a love song aimed mainly at women who create content on social media. Its short, catchy hook makes it instantly easy to sing along to, while its soothing delivery keeps it easy on the ear. Underneath sits a laid-back R&B beat, made for nodding your head along to on a drive or through your headphones. Guitars run throughout the record and give it a warm, Spanish flavour that sets it apart from typical R&B releases.
Tú follows Aran’s recent single Olas, made with Maniscooler and Sam.u.el, and continues his ongoing exploration of new sounds.
Music has been part of Aran’s life from an early age. At 13, he began learning the dhol, the traditional Punjabi drum, under the world-renowned producer Aman Hayer. What began as a love of rhythm and Punjabi culture grew into a wider passion for performance, and Aran went on to focus on his voice, spending more than 14 years learning and refining his singing under Tru Skool, the most in-demand producer in Punjabi music today.
Although he moves comfortably between styles and refuses to be boxed into a single genre, bhangra remains closest to his heart. Drawing on the energy, culture and emotion of Punjabi music, Aran adds a modern edge while staying rooted in where he comes from. A career highlight came in September 2023, when Punjabi music’s most sought-after producer, Tru Skool, invited him to sing live at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall as part of an event featuring Panjabi MC. It was the first time Aran had performed to a crowd of 2,000 people, and his first time on stage with a band. He sang two songs alongside the Tru Skool Live experience band.
