Kwabena Agyemang’s debut album, Epiphany, is a profound exploration of faith, blending the beauty of spoken word poetry with the soul-stirring power of melody. Deeply influenced by his personal relationship with Jesus, Agyemang’s journey as a poet and musician is closely tied to his spiritual awakening during high school, where he discovered his ability to write songs and poetry as a direct reflection of the grace and love he experienced.

With Epiphany, Agyemang brings together years of writing into a cohesive project that celebrates God’s relentless love and grace. The album, recorded in his hometown of Kumasi, is infused with rich Ghanaian rhythms and intonations, authentically connecting his cultural heritage to the spiritual themes of his work. Agyemang speaks about how worship, while expressed through different cultural lenses, retains its spiritual essence and meaning.

The album’s unique blend of spoken word and melody creates a listening experience that transcends artistic boundaries, allowing listeners to engage deeply with its themes of love, redemption, and worship. Agyemang believes that melodies serve as powerful vehicles to carry the weight of words into the hearts and spirits of his audience.

His lyrics, deeply introspective, reflect moments of gratitude, love, and redemption. Through this record, Agyemang hopes to inspire listeners to encounter Jesus in a personal way, feel secure and loved, and live a life of purpose and blessing. He draws much of his creative inspiration from quiet moments of reflection, allowing both chaos and stillness to shape his artistic process. As someone who balances complex emotions like disappointment and joy, he clings to his faith as an anchor through turbulent times, hoping his journey can encourage others to persevere.

With Epiphany, Agyemang aspires to touch the hearts of listeners both in Ghana and globally, and he’s eager to continue blending languages and sounds in future projects, all while maintaining a spiritual and uplifting tone throughout his music.

Your album *Epiphany* is described as a heartfelt reflection on the relentless love of Jesus, inspired by your personal encounter with divine grace. Could you share more about the journey that led to the creation of this project and how your faith influenced its development?

My poetry and faith journeys are not mutually exclusive. I got saved in High School. That was the peak of discovering my ability to write songs and poetry. Art was a direct translation of my faith, love, and the grace I felt and believed in. I continued writing through college. The journey to Epiphany started when I decided to combine all the earlier pieces I had written to weave a beautiful collection detailing God’s grace, gratitude, and relentless love.

The fusion of spoken word poetry and melody in *Epiphany* creates a distinctive listening experience. How did you approach blending these two art forms, and what do you believe this combination brings to the themes of love, redemption, and worship?

Words ride on melodies. Words in themselves have weight. I believe that tunes or melodies are relevant tools for conveying this weight into hearts, minds, souls, and spirits. Thus, blending them produces an awesome work of art that transcends a plethora of artistic barriers and optimizes expression.

With *Epiphany* being recorded in Kumasi and incorporating Ghanaian intonations and rhythms, there is a clear connection to your cultural roots. How did you ensure these elements were authentically woven into the album, and what role do they play in amplifying the spiritual message of your work?

Kumasi is the second largest city in Ghana and the capital of the Ashanti Region. It is the hub of rich Ghanaian culture and heritage. Recording this album in my home country and my birth city gave me a connection to my roots. It is beautiful to know that worship can be expressed in diverse cultures and rhythms. However, it never changes its spiritual essence or meaning.

Your lyrics are deeply introspective, inviting listeners to engage with themes of gratitude, love, and redemption. What do you hope your audience will take away from the personal and spiritual reflections that are central to *Epiphany*?

I hope my listeners encounter Jesus in an intimate way. I hope through this record, they feel loved, secured, protected, and inspired to live a life of purpose and blessing to others. And I hope they prepare to embrace Jesus when he returns.

You’ve mentioned drawing creative inspiration from quiet, reflective moments in life. How do these moments of stillness and contemplation influence your creative process, particularly when writing and composing for *Epiphany*?

There is a way both chaos and the stillness give birth to distinct sounds. We cannot live life without going through some up and down moments. As a creative, every moment comes with its own inspiration to create. It might not always be perfect, but maybe that is how it is supposed to be. It should look like life. And life, is not always perfect.

As both a poet and a musician, your work spans a wide emotional spectrum, from feelings of anger and disappointment to joy and peace. How do you strike a balance between exploring these complex emotions while maintaining the overarching spiritual and uplifting tone in your music?

I allow myself to feel. I go through these emotions like any human being. The difference is that my faith is my anchor. So, I go through disappointment, joy, and peace still clinging to my faith. And when I get to the end of the storm, I reflect on the turbulent times and how my experience can encourage others going through turbulence to hold on and not give up.

As an artist, how do you stay creatively inspired and maintain a fresh perspective in your work, particularly when balancing your roles as both a poet and a musician?

I listen to the work of other creatives. I read widely and join communities that inspire me to progress in my craft.

With the release of *Epiphany*, what are your hopes for the album’s impact on listeners? Are there any themes or artistic directions you are particularly eager to explore in future projects?

I hope everyone who listens to Epiphany catches the inspiration behind every track. In future projects, I hope to explore blending the Akan and English languages to touch the hearts of my people and global audience.
