Australian DJ, producer and radio host DJ Lala has joined forces with award-winning production duo The FaNaTiX and East London vocalist Äyanna to release “Bedroom Eyes”. The flirty single is the first taste of Sugar, a joint EP from DJ Lala x The Fanatix.
The collaboration effortlessly blends their musical styles. The Fanatix’s dancehall and Caribbean sound behind their records with Nicki Minaj, Popcaan & Vybz Kartel with DJ Lala’s vibrant house energy. Sugar symbolises the sweet spot where their sounds merge.
‘Bedroom Eyes’ is about connection, eye contact and all its codes. Äyanna’s first verse sets the tone, flirty, playful and in control. Teamed with strong low-end bass, afro-fused drums and house sensibilities, The FaNaTiX and DJ Lala found a musical space that feels as at home in a basement club as a rooftop day party. A global fusion that progresses throughout the EP.
The accompanying music video is directed by KJ Spio and shot by Sparbz in London. With clean close-up performance shots of Äyanna set in a relaxed backyard setting the video showcases the artist’s genuine connection and the song’s playful side.
DJ LALA: “Bedroom Eyes is the beginning of this project that we have been building for a while, it’s a great feeling to put it out into the world. It’s Afropop but still very London, a blend that speaks to me.”
THE FANATIX: “We love the versatility of this song. It can play on radio, but at the same time the heavy bass and drums can turn up a party just like that.”
ÄYANNA: “This track was super fun to make with the gang. I loved getting in touch with my Caribbean roots on this one and the playful fun vibe of it is soooo contagious.”
