Experimental indie artist and producer Blue Capricorn returns with “honest,” a Latin indie-pop collaboration featuring Dallas-based Cuban-American artist and producer LOREN KOLE. Ethereal, intimate, and emotionally reflective, the new single offers a glimpse into Blue Capricorn’s forthcoming second EP, when you come back, transcend me, due October 15, 2026.
Blending indie pop, Latin indie, and art pop, “honest” unfolds through lush synths, delicate keys, atmospheric guitars, and restrained percussion. The track captures the complicated space between wanting connection and recognizing when a relationship cannot be sustained. Rather than presenting heartbreak as a clean ending, “honest” sits with the uncertainty, attachment, and vulnerability that remain after love has failed.
Written over the course of a year and a half during a period of personal and creative transition, the song evolved significantly from its earliest form. For Blue Capricorn, the collaboration with LOREN KOLE became an important part of that evolution.
“‘honest’ isn’t anything like what it sounded a year ago. When I met LOREN a few years ago, I knew I wanted to work with her one way or another, and when I had started working on my new EP, it only felt natural for me to invite her into my space. While we were getting to know each other, I had realized that LOREN and I shared a lot of the same interests in music; most commonly the feeling that music gave us and what we hoped to communicate through our own work.
“Throughout a year and a half, it felt like this song had lived a life because it had evolved into something so pure and precious to us. The more we spent time on it, the more I realized that ‘honest’ really is nothing more than a song about vulnerability and accepting failed love. I think working with LOREN also helped me dig deeper into that certain headspace, and she had also really played a big role in finding an accessible musical ambiance that spoke to us both sonically. It was one of my biggest privileges to explore that with LOREN.”
The result is a song that feels suspended between intimacy and distance. Its atmospheric production creates a cinematic backdrop for the emotional weight of the lyrics, while the chemistry between Blue Capricorn and LOREN KOLE gives the track a sense of shared reflection.
“honest” arrives as the third track from when you come back, transcend me, Blue Capricorn’s second EP. The seven-track project continues his exploration of vulnerability, longing, nostalgia, and self-discovery, moving between ambient textures, experimental production, indie rock influences, and emotionally direct songwriting.
