Lovisa Altin The End of the World

There is something powerful about the moment when an artist stops thinking of music as a collection of songs and starts treating it as a world of its own. For Swedish artist Lovisa Altin, that idea sits at the heart of everything she is building. A singer, songwriter, producer, dancer and storyteller, Altin has created an artistic universe where music, movement, visuals and narrative can exist as parts of one much larger story.

Her latest release, ‘The End of the World’, is where that journey begins.

A cinematic reimagining of the classic song written by Arthur Kent and Sylvia Dee, the track introduces listeners to a character trapped inside a cold, grey and dystopian world. There is a sense of exhaustion and disconnection, but also a quiet belief that something else must exist beyond the life she knows. Then comes the light. Mysterious and unexpected, it leads her to a magical spaceship capable of carrying her into another universe.

That spaceship is more than a striking image. It is the doorway into Altin’s wider creative concept, with each future album representing a different world, genre and chapter of the story. It gives her the freedom to move between musical identities without losing the thread connecting them, turning each new release into another destination within the same imaginative journey.

At the centre of ‘The End of the World’ is a feeling many people will recognise: the desire to escape when the place you are in no longer feels like where you belong. Yet Altin does not leave the listener in that darkness. Her story is ultimately about curiosity, hope and having the courage to follow a strange light when it appears.

That instinct to imagine has been part of Altin’s life for as long as she can remember. As a child, she created elaborate stories for her teddy bears, unknowingly developing the storytelling instinct that would later become a defining part of her music. She began performing while travelling with her family, singing on stages in countries including Italy and Bulgaria, before appearing on Swedish television programme ‘Supershowen’ in 2015.

Her first recorded song, ‘Go Your Own Way’, arrived when she was around 14, followed by ‘Phoenix’ in 2020. Since then, Altin has continued to expand her skills as a songwriter and producer while exploring a musical palette that can move through pop, rock, country, disco, musical theatre and experimental sounds.

Her influences make that freedom feel natural. Queen and David Bowie represent the kind of fearless musical transformation she admires, while Lady Gaga’s relationship between music, performance and fashion reflects her own multidisciplinary approach. The cinematic world-building of Janelle Monáe and Melanie Martinez also resonates with her vision, alongside the vocal power of Whitney Houston.

But ‘The End of the World’ is not simply an exercise in influence. It is the opening scene of something Altin intends to make entirely her own.

Produced by Stefan Storm and Altin, the single establishes a cinematic atmosphere where sound and story work together, introducing an artist who is less interested in staying inside one genre than discovering where the next door might lead.

For Lovisa Altin, the destination is not yet known. The spaceship has arrived, the light has appeared, and the first journey is about to begin.
