Wahid L4dv prepares to open a new chapter with the release of his forthcoming EP Isolo Boy (referencing his roots in the bustling Isolo district of Lagos) : Welcome 2 Hull City, landing on January 29th, 2026. Spanning four tracks, the project sits at the crossroads of Afro-fusion, Afrobeats and Afro Trap, offering a smooth yet emotionally rich listening experience.
At its core, Isolo Boy : Welcome 2 Hull City is a deeply personal musical diary. The EP traces the journey from the vibrant pulse of Lagos to the quieter, unfamiliar streets of Kingston upon Hull, capturing the emotional weight of relocation. It reflects the tension between nostalgia and discovery, the comfort of home and the challenge of adapting to a new environment. Each track carries the feeling of movement, growth and self-reflection.
The creative process behind the EP was organic. Rather than working from a fixed blueprint, the songs emerged through freestyles, with Wahid L4dv singing instinctively over beats to capture emotion in its purest form. Those initial moments were later refined, shaping lyrics and structure without losing their honesty. The result is a laid-back, fluid body of work designed to invite listeners into a space of ease, reflection and quiet confidence.
While the EP features no guest vocals, it is far from a solitary effort. Recorded in the intimate setting of Wahid’s home studio, the performances feel close and unfiltered. Behind the scenes, collaboration played a key role, with skilled beatmakers helping to build the sonic foundations and professional engineers handling the mixing and mastering to ensure a polished final sound. Despite this, the project remains a singular expression of one artist’s journey across continents.
Accompanying the lead tracks “2pm in Hull City” and “Boucle Errything” is a music video for the former that serves as a visual welcome to Wahid’s new surroundings. Shot across multiple locations in Kingston upon Hull, the video moves beyond performance, offering a guided tour of the city through the eyes of a newcomer. It captures the character of the streets, the atmosphere of the environment and the mood of the music, reinforcing the EP’s central themes of adaptation and self-discovery.
Born in Nigeria and now based in the UK, Wahid L4dv has steadily carved out a distinctive lane within the Afro-fusion space. Known for his smooth vocal tone, melodic delivery and emotive writing, his sound blends Afrobeats, R&B, Hip Hop and alternative influences into a style that feels both relaxed and intentional. After early feature appearances on Anf3la’s Gucci Bargain and Buckle Up, he introduced himself as a solo artist with 420 in Lasgidi in 2019, followed by Shout to Mama Mi in 2020. Since relocating to the UK and completing his master’s degree, he has returned with renewed focus, releasing Pay (Gucci Love) in 2022 and co-founding Friendly Fazez Entertainment in 2023.
With Isolo Boy : Welcome 2 Hull City, Wahid L4dv continues to evolve, delivering a project that is as introspective as it is accessible. It is a story of movement, resilience and soundtracking life between worlds, marking another confident step from an artist steadily making his presence felt in the modern Afro-fusion landscape.
