Ookay – Proxima Nova: Ookay makes a powerful comeback with Proxima Nova, a four-track EP out now via Dim Mak. The project captures his evolution as a producer while staying true to the roots that built his name in electronic music. Packed with energy, precision, and forward-thinking production, Proxima Nova is crafted for both underground clubs and massive festival stages.
Sharing the meaning behind the project, Ookay explains: “Proxima translates to next while Nova translates to new, a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness. I wanted this music to show what is next and give brightness to my sound. It also pays homage to a font that has been used throughout the years and has established itself while still being reinvented, which is a reflection of my career. This project represents the rebirth of everything that has shaped Ookay so far.”
The EP opens with Move Ya Body, a high-octane hybrid of trap and dancehall that instantly sets a festival-ready tone. Speakers Knockin follows with a vibrant mix of UKG and Bass House, filled with retro keyboard stabs and underground club energy. All I Ever Wanted taps into the spirit of classic Festival Trap, blending soulful vocals with Jersey Club percussion for a euphoric punch. Closing the record, Lose Control balances soft, emotive vocals with a heavy bassline, delivering a finale rich in detail and bold dynamics.
With Proxima Nova, Ookay reminds listeners why he remains a respected name in dance music. By merging genres, experimenting with sound, and embracing reinvention, he presents a project that is both a look back at his journey and a bold vision of what comes next.
