Fred Brown – Marks Will Match: Acclaimed singer-songwriter and instrumentalist Fred Brown announces the debut EP Distraction and shares the new single ‘Marks Will Match’.

Having previously made waves as a member of automan, Brown now embarks on a new creative journey, blending evocative lyrics with ardent guitar work and stretched, introspective vocals.

The first single to be taken from the upcoming EP release ‘-’ EP due for release April 18th, ‘Marks Will Match’ highlights the heartfelt songwriting, growing from its intimate opening to a wall of punching drums, expansive guitar tones and warming bass at the tracks close.

“Marks Will Match” captures the essence of the artistic transition Fred has undergone, both personally and musically. Reflecting on the track, Brown states: “These singles, and the EP as a whole, signify a transition in my life. It’s a time where uncertainty looms, but it hasn’t quite realized itself yet. It’s standing in the distance, with a pistol on its hip. But until you reach that point, you sweep things under the rug and try your best to have fun. Everything becomes a distraction.”

Recorded between Goldsmith Studios and Brown’s own space, the single features Ben Leftley on drums, Joey Crouch on bass and engineering duties, and Henry Arrowsmith on piano. Although this is Brown’s first release under his own name, his previous work has already been recognized by major tastemakers. Previous projects have landed him on editorial playlists on Spotify, Rough Trade’s curated selections and support across Amazing Radio. He has also been an Amazing Radio Audition Winner and performed at the BBC Introducing x Roundhouse Rising Show, highlighting Fred Brown as one to watch.
