“Feel Good Vibes” radiates positivity and resilience. What inspired this track, and how does it reflect your personal journey?

Feel Good Vibes was created after the realization of how many things there were to be grateful for and be happy about. Sometimes we are so overwhelmed by life issues it becomes hard to see anything good. I hadn’t had time to celebrate any of my accomplishment in music due to illness and ect…. once I acknowledged just how much there was to be happy about despite challenges, Feel Good Vibes had to be completed.

This is your third single from the upcoming “Free-Spirited” album. Can you give us a glimpse of what we can expect from the full album?

I don’t want to give everything away; I’d rather it be a nice surprise! So I’ll just say this: compared to my last album, “Why Chapter One,” this project digs deeper into my creativity, and I’m very happy with the results of my efforts and excited for you all to hear it.

You’ve described “Feel Good Vibes” as a pushback against life’s challenges. How has music helped you navigate difficult times, especially given your health struggles?

Music has always been a saving grace for me throughout life. I’m a passionate person and I write from my heart. Even when times have been difficult I want to encourage others while encouraging myself, communicating with others with music. I thank God often for the musical gifts he has given me and the strong spirit in me to keep going.

You’ve experienced significant success as an independent artist, from charting on Amazon to being featured by major outlets. What do you think has been the key to your success?

To be honest, there isn’t a single key to the success I’ve experienced. The best decision I could have made was to stay determined as well as pay attention to what works best for me as I grow independently on this musical journey. Believing in yourself fosters confidence and enables you to embrace your unique identity as an artist, and I’m relishing the growth and creativity that come with being able to expand and soar! And I’ve only just begun.

Your husband, Rynellton, is a big part of your musical journey. How does your creative partnership enhance your music?

My husband is an absolute Godsend, a blessing to me in my life both professionally and personally speaking. There isn’t enough I could say that would cover all this amazing man does for me. I’m so grateful to be married such an amazing man. And his talent literally leaves me in awe. And in all honestly, what we have between us is incredibly rare, because truth be told, it’s not as easy as it may seem to connect with people in the creation process.

Being in a relationship and partnership with that very person who gets you, shares your visions and is also a musician, is a massive positive. It makes things work better knowing he and I have this incredible chemistry and deep appreciation for music and respect for one another’s gifts. It’s also a plus that we both reference God for our abilities and that keeps us grounded.

As someone who’s overcome personal and physical challenges, what advice would you give to aspiring artists facing their own struggles?

Adversity confronts so many individuals with amazing gifts. My heart goes out to those fighting hard to make their dreams their reality while personally going through it. However, they must broaden their perspective to embrace their potential, rather than limiting themselves with preconceived notions or external opinions. Their journey is as unique as their fingerprints. Find what works for them and make it happen. I personally knew going at this independently was going to be tough, financially, emotionally, and physically. So I got creative; I brought affordable lighting and a backdrop, and I learned how to take and edit photos effectively. I learned how to shoot and edit videos. I built a vocal booth out of one of my wardrobes in my bedroom after the door fell off it.

I’ve recorded most of my releases myself. I never stop feeding my brain with information to improve on what I do. Do I experience fatigue and stress from all this? Of course! However, completing all the work and having it celebrated by others worldwide is truly rewarding. Furthermore, the world is rapidly changing in front of our eyes. Stay grounded, remain focused, and simply enjoy the journey. Remind yourself that this is your life, your ultimate goal. Learn as much as possible about the business. Develop your skills and don’t give up when things get tough. Rest assured, you will eventually reach your destination. Just believe in yourself; you got this!

The pandemic played a role in your rise as an artist. How did that period shape your music and outlook?

It’s a question that has been asked often. When I think about it,   the world stopped in the way we had been accustomed. I think because things slowed down people had no choice but to so as well. Music has always been a part of our lives throughout history, even in early times when preparing for battle, or celebration. I feel people were searching for comfort, inspiration,  and a feeling that someone could relate to what they’re going through. I’m glad people discovered my art in this difficult time and I hope it helped . As time followed I noticed that more people became engaged with me and that was so special. Being a voice, inspiration, and a light is my purpose to this world.

You’ve maintained a natural, creative approach to your music in an age of filters and virtual enhancements. How important is authenticity in your artistry?

Being fortunate enough to have heard so many greats, legends, and icons growing up, I know the difference between real and what’s happening now in this virtual age. Technology is useful when used properly, but nothing can replace human emotions. Music in its most natural form does that better than AI ever could. If you had a chance to attend a concert by your favourite artists, would you rather do it in person or just watch it online?  Would you like a slice of cake or just stare at a picture of it and imagine what it tastes like? For me personally, I want the real thing; the viral world can’t ever replace what is real. It’s like my husband’s and my long-distance marriage. I hate it when my husband has to return back to the states.

As much as I appreciate being able to see him on video chat, it isn’t the same as being able to place my hand in his and embrace him tight. And even though we have created amazing music together virtually while apart, nothing beats the magic we create while together in person. Returning to the music, keeping it real, being natural, and using my talent in a transparent manner are values that really matter to me. For this reason, I am really proud of being authentic. I know who I am, and I embrace it.

Your music conveys deep emotion and empathy. How do you connect with your audience on such a personal level?

Since childhood, music has been such a blessing and therapeutic tool for me, so it comes naturally to me to write relevant songs and convey emotion via my singing, thereby establishing a connection with people via music. I believe the issues I address are interchangeable since they are pertinent for every generation. Every day, I also cultivate relationships with people by simply listening to their life stories. Just listening helps us to learn a lot about one another.

Ne-Yo showed support for your single, “Remind Me.” What does it mean to you to receive recognition from a Grammy-winning artist?

Having an mainstream majorly known artist show appreciation and support for your work is the stuff dreams are made of. Knowing that I listened to and respected his music growing up and then later he acknowledges me makes me smile.

Looking to the future, where do you see yourself as an artist five years from now, and what legacy do you hope to leave behind?

I love what I do. My plan is to keep building up my career and digging deeper into all the possibilities. I already record my songs myself most of the time, so I’d like to learn more in sound engineering, mixing, and mastering. My husband and I are also concentrating on securing placements in movies and television series; between us, we have hundreds of unreleased songs. I’m also very passionate about dance; growing up, I did urban dance, tap, and some ballet, so I’d like to incorporate some of these parts of me into some future music videos if health allows it. I’ve been riding horses since my early childhood, and my upcoming album, Free-Spirited, promises a delightful surprise in one of my music videos. I’ve filmed and edited most of my videos, but I’d like to learn more about videography to enhance my skills in this area.

My husband and I have been discussing the possibility of me creating my own line of merchandise, including perfumes, makeup, and clothing, in the future. In accomplishing these sorts of things, I want to encourage others to believe anything is possible as long as you don’t give up. I want to be an advocate for women who feel they have no voice. I have survived abuse, rape, and a whole lot of heartache, but I never let it change my heart or my spirit. Despite facing illnesses that often leave me feeling weak, I continue to create and record my songs, put on makeup, take my press photos, create videos, and remain in good spirits with a smile on my face, despite the pain I suffer in my body.

Some may think I’m not sick or that I must be better because of this, but the truth of it is, my spirit is stronger than my body. People who really know me, know all that about me. I hope to uplift and inspire all generations to feel, do, and be better.  Lastly, I want people to feel like I was close to them, no matter if we ever meet personally, and I made a positive impact on their lives. This fosters a sense of family between my audience and myself. That becomes love. Celebrate life and live your best life! Because you are good enough.

Thank you for this amazing interview! All my love to you all and a very happy new year.
