Grammy Award-winning pianist and composer Robert Glasper has released his third project of 2024, Keys to the City: Volume 1, exclusively on Apple Music. The album is a captivating showcase of collaboration and improvisation, featuring live recordings from Glasper’s renowned “ROBTOBER” residency at the Blue Note in NYC.
The project highlights some of the most memorable performances from the residency, including a reimagining of The Roots’ “Step Into the Realm” featuring Black Thought, Outkast’s “Prototype” with vocals by Norah Jones, a cover of Chick Corea’s “Paint the World” featuring Thundercat, and Glasper’s tribute to Mulgrew Miller, “One for Grew”. Also included is a groovy rendition of Ready for the World’s “Love You Down”, featuring Meshell Ndegeocello, who has lent her voice to all three of Glasper’s 2024 Apple Music collaborations.
Keys to the City: Volume 1 is a testament to Glasper’s unmatched ability to blend genres and elevate live performance through collaboration.
