Warner Music Baltics Office in Estonia Set to Close as Part of Restructuring Efforts: Warner Music Group’s Warner Music Baltics office, situated in Tallinn, Estonia, is set to close its doors. The establishment of the office in 2020 marked Warner Music Group’s expansion into the Baltics, representing a significant move as Warner Music Baltics, an integral part of Warner Music Finland, established its first physical presence in the region.
Following the closure, Warner’s operations for the Baltics will be managed from Helsinki and Stockholm. Over the past three years, the label had actively built a local roster of artists in the Estonian market. Unfortunately, this development will result in the release of six local artists from their contracts, although Warner Music is committed to honoring all existing creative commitments before their departure.
Notably, the roster includes artists such as Arop, Andreas, Gameboy Tetris, Kirot, Karl Killing, and Liis Lemsalu. As part of the closure, all approximately seven Warner employees based in Estonia will be let go.
This announcement comes on the heels of last week’s news about Warner Music Group-owned Atlantic Music Group implementing approximately two dozen layoffs. The memo regarding this decision was circulated by Atlantic Music Group Chairman and CEO, Julie Greenwald, to the company’s staff on February 26.
Furthermore, Warner Music Group had previously disclosed plans to lay off around 600 staff, constituting approximately 10% of its workforce. CEO Robert Kyncl explained during the company’s earnings call that this move is part of an efficiency drive aimed at saving $200 million by September 2025. The majority of these layoffs will affect WMG’s ‘owned and operated’ media properties, some of which are slated for sale. Kyncl mentioned, “We’re in an exclusive process for the potential sale of the news entertainment websites Uproxx and HipHopDX, with more to say on that soon,” during the recent analyst call.
