Belgian-Cameroonian artist MAVEE, releases her highly anticipated new EP, ‘Out Of Time’ (February 9th).
Born and raised in Brussels, MAVEE has quickly built a reputation as one to watch following a flurry of tastemaker press coverage and now approaching 100K cumulative streams on Spotify. Having released a number of singles through 2023, the release schedule now culminates with the new 8 track release which showcases the artists most complete and affecting work to date.
Collaborating with Dejan “Dejavu”, MAVEE beautifully blends soulful synth-pop and R&B, creating a sound that navigates both worlds through heartfelt, emotionally driven songwriting and rich electronic instrumentation. Led by the new lead track ‘Selfless’, a prime example of what can be expected across the full EP, MAVEE’s abilities as a writer and performer shine. Silky, emotive lead vocals glide above a backdrop of deep bass, swelling synths and tight beats to create a sultry, melancholic and effortlessly infectious track.
Taking control of the entire creative process, MAVEE not only directs the project but also contributes to songwriting, melodies, and production. The artwork, a reflection of the music’s essence, was meticulously crafted to align with her vision. As MAVEE steps into a new creative phase, she not only choreographs all the dances for her live shows but also collaborates with her band on the arrangements.
The dual themes of reminiscence and newfound confidence in the aftermath of the breakup are central to the project, providing listeners with a captivating and relatable musical journey, as MAVEE explains:
“Dealing with a break-up is a process that can take a lot of time, but eventually you run out of time and you move on.”
Having caught the attention of music curators with previous releases, MAVEE has had her music played on Wonderland Radio 1, gained a wave of tastemaker press coverage and has performed at a number of prestigious venues including Ancienne Belgique. Her undeniable talent also led her to victory in the Sound Track music competition in 2021. Now, 2024 is shaping up to be another landmark year for MAVEE with the release of her new EP.
