In this exclusive interview, we delve into the captivating world of The World of Mick, a musician whose remarkable journey from a session guitar player and producer to a recording artist has earned him a unique place in the music industry. Mick’s story is one of passion, authenticity, and an unyielding dedication to his craft.

We start by exploring the origins of his musical odyssey, as Mick shares the inspirations that ignited his pursuit of a career in music. Along the way, he learned from some of the greatest musicians and remains ever grateful to the teachers who guided him on this path.

Mick’s music is a genre unto itself, an extraordinary fusion of Blues and Pop that he affectionately refers to as “Blues-Pop.” What truly sets him apart, however, is his unwavering commitment to keeping it real. With each song, each lyric, he draws from genuine experiences, ensuring that his art is a true reflection of life’s diverse tapestry.

The interview also touches on the hurdles faced by indie musicians, as Mick candidly discusses the challenges he overcame, from securing coveted slots at music festivals to achieving a million streams on Spotify.

As we eagerly anticipate his upcoming album, “MICK III,” Mick offers a glimpse into the ongoing musical journey he passionately navigates. The album, currently in the making, is poised to be a testament to his enduring commitment to the art.

Join us as we embark on a musical voyage with The World of Mick, and discover the captivating narrative that fuels his extraordinary musical odyssey.

Can you tell us about your journey as an indie musician? What inspired you to pursue a career in music?

I came up as a session guitar player then producer. Then put some songs together and became a recording artist. I learned from the greats and been grateful for teachers along the way.

How would you describe your unique style and sound as an artist? What sets you apart from other musicians?

I make a kind of music people call Blues-Pop .I keep it real with my music; if I write about working on a North Sea Oil oil rig, it means I have BEEN on one.I am the real thing. Not a manufactured artist. People can tell the difference.

Could you share some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as an indie musician and how you overcame them?

Getting booked for festivals as a new artist. Overcame by playing festivals, going down well and then being invited back by same festivals next year

Getting my first million streams on Spotify took a while. Once I got onto a few Spotify playlists I was up and running

What is your creative process like? How do you approach songwriting and composing music?

Writing is something I do every day, like getting up in the morning .Something happens around me and I get inspired and  write a tune or a lyric

Are there any particular themes or messages that you aim to convey through your music? What inspires your lyrics?

I tell stories about my life. Good, bad, happy and sad. Do you feel like I feel? I’m all about Keeping it Real

Tell us about your latest project.

My next album MICK III is in the works, writing and producing it week by week. Due for release later this year. Watch this space

What are your long-term goals as an indie musician? Where do you see yourself and your music in the next few years?

To be writing and playing til the day I die. That’s what I was born to do.
