Ash Smith is a Dallas, Texas-born, Los Angeles-based pop-rock singer-songwriter who goes by the pseudonym Miss Machina.

Her new single ‘Talk’, is influenced by 70s disco flare, 80s synth-pop, and 90s grunge rock. The genre-blend within this particular offering showcases Miss Machina’s dynamic as a songstress. She elevates the production creating a sound exhilarating by the nostalgic music she listened to in her youth.

Along with her voice, the production uses electric guitars, synthesizers, programmed percussion, and other instruments to create a creepy, nostalgic vibe. While watching the movie Scream, Miss Machina was inspired to write this song. She was going through a breakup, but neither party was able to end things. She answered her ex’s calls as they came in, feeling unable to cut things off for good, at the time. She was moved by the film because it gave her a sense of an obsessive killer who was obsessed with her.

Miss Machina comments on the track,

“There aren’t really sides in a breakup, we just want someone to take the blame and be the villain.”

As the songstress demonstrates her effortless talents and personal growth in the music industry, she enthusiastically welcomes this release. Miss Machina’s catalog reflects her imaginative and unrestricted outlook, meanwhile, her unmatched creativity allows her to effortlessly transition between genres.

ARTIST BIO

Ash Smith coined the name Miss Machina while in college at the Chicago College of Performing Arts studying musical theatre and vocal performance. She finished her degree at SMU in Dallas and graduated with honors with a degree in Journalism and a minor in voice and songwriting. After graduating she decided to pursue a career as an independent musician and moved to Los Angeles, where she is currently working on her debut pop album.

Inspired by 70s disco flare, 80s synth-pop, and 90s grunge rock, the songstress blends genres and creates a sound inspired by the nostalgic music she listened to in her youth. While co-writing and collaborating with other independent artists, Machina is also known as a Twitch affiliate and internet content creator.
