Brooklyn-based indie duo Ruby & Sasha have released their debut EP, Outdoor Shower, a four-track project that captures the uncertainty, frustrations and unexpected humour of finding your way through early adulthood. Blending indie pop with country-folk influences, the identical twin sisters bring together close vocal harmonies and honest songwriting to reflect on relationships, self-discovery and the challenge of figuring out what comes next.
Released on September 15, 2026, the EP features the previously released singles ‘Outdoor Shower’, ‘Hay Fever’ and ‘Red Light’, alongside the previously unreleased track ‘Off Switch’. Together, the songs offer a personal look at a stage of life when it can feel as though everyone else is moving forward while you are still trying to work things out.
For Ruby & Sasha, the project grew out of their own experiences of navigating adulthood. Some of the songs approach difficult moments with a sense of humour, while others allow space for vulnerability and uncertainty. The sisters capture the frustration of feeling stuck, the disappointment that can come with relationships and the realisation that sometimes moving forward means accepting when something is no longer right for you.
“We wrote these songs during a period where we were both trying to figure out what adulthood would look like for us,” the duo explains. “A lot of Outdoor Shower is about feeling like everyone else is moving forward while you’re stuck standing still, and sometimes trying to find humor in that and sometimes just having to bare your soul and be vulnerable. The songs all come from different experiences, but to us they feel like snapshots of this period of our lives.”
Musically, Outdoor Shower balances intimate acoustic arrangements with fuller country-folk textures, allowing the sisters’ intertwined vocals and personal lyrics to remain at the centre. Their approach combines dreamy melodies with an understated sense of humour, giving the songs a warmth that complements their more reflective themes.
The EP was produced, recorded and mixed by Daniel Markus, who also contributed guitar, bass, piano, synthesiser, drum programming and string arrangements. The wider recording features Sam Schuman and Pele Greenberg on drums and percussion, Natalia Catalan on bass, Theo Haber on violin and viola, Andrew Cekala on cello, Julian Smith on lead guitar, and Quinn Devlin on harmonica and Wurlitzer. Elaine Rasnake handled mastering across all four tracks.
Ruby & Sasha are identical twins who were born in New York and raised in London. They began singing in choirs and writing music together at a young age, developing a natural musical connection that continues to shape their work. Now based in Brooklyn, they draw inspiration from artists such as The Staves, Samia and Waxahatchee, combining folk, indie pop and singer-songwriter influences with their own candid perspective.
Their songwriting often explores isolation, romantic disappointment and the search for stability, but the sisters are equally interested in the small moments of clarity that can emerge from difficult experiences. Rather than pretending to have everything figured out, they allow their songs to reflect the uncertainty of growing up and learning to understand yourself.
Over the years, their music has received attention from publications including Americana Highways, Magnetic Vine, Music Crowns, SKOPE, Broken Color, Melody Maker and Quiet Coast. They have also performed at New York venues such as PinkFrog Cafe, Pete’s Candy Store and The Speakeasy at The Gin Mill.
With Outdoor Shower, Ruby & Sasha bring these experiences together in their first complete EP. The result is a collection that feels personal without losing its wider appeal, finding common ground in the awkward, funny and sometimes uncomfortable moments that come with growing into yourself.
