Pianist and composer Matt Johnson has released a new single titled “Mother’s Day Proverb,” a heartfelt piece dedicated to mothers around the world in celebration of their special day in May. Gentle and reflective in tone, the track carries a sense of gratitude and quiet appreciation.
The piece is not entirely new in origin. It comes from Johnson’s 2010 project Reflections on…The Proverbs of Solomon, an ambitious body of work where he paired piano improvisations with readings from The World English Bible. Across the project, he explored all thirty-one proverbs, with “Mother’s Day Proverb” serving as the final installment in the series.
Reintroduced as a standalone single, the track highlights Johnson’s ability to create meaningful, emotionally grounded music through simplicity. With its calm, meditative feel, “Mother’s Day Proverb” offers listeners a moment to pause, reflect, and honor the importance of mothers everywhere.
