Canned Pineapple – Big Break: Brighton risers Canned Pineapple release the anticipated new EP ‘Big Break’. A 6 track exploration of the band’s tongue-in-cheek lyricism, bright and fuzzy guitar-led sound, and infectious melodies, ‘Big Break’ offers an inviting, scuzzy, power-pop soundscapes. Produced by Tom Rees (Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard/The Bug Club/Panic Shack), the track captures the energetic post-punk infused indie-rock sound which characterises the band live sound, underpinned by a unique blend of psychedelia and nostalgic doo-wop sensibilities.

Talking about the EP, the band add: “‘Big Break’ is our tongue in cheek exploration of the idea that a band can ‘make it’ in the modern world and whether or not it’s just a fallacy exclusive to being printed in history. We’re approaching the start to our fourth year as a band and the last three have been a total rollercoaster.

With extreme highs and lows, ‘Big Break’ highlights a culmination of experiences we’ve had as a band, as housemates and as brothers, growing into adults together while in each other’s pockets as well as the pursuit for something bigger. We give you another six: party people, sing all night, run on the ceiling rock tunes and It’s our proudest, most honest work yet. We hope it resonates with you as much as it does for us.”

Talking about the EP’s lead single Georgia, the band add:

“Georgia was written in a state of deep confusion. We were on a… what I’ll call ‘journey of discovery’ when suddenly, Gabriel got lost. In the wake of his delirium he met an extraterrestrial being, who crowned him ‘The God of Love’.

Along with his new found powers he came up with this crisp banger about embrace and unity. With this song, Gabriel continues his efforts to spread rock music to the masses through the vessel that is Canned Pineapple. Is it truly a coincidence that Barry White died the same day as Gabriel was born? When the Walrus left us, a phoenix rose from its ashes”

Since their appearance at New Colossus Festival, New York in early ’24, Canned Pineapple have had an explosive year sharing stages with the likes of LCD Soundsystem, The National, and The Last Dinner Party, playing sold-out UK and European tours and festival slots across the UK. The band have gained widespread acclaim with radio play from Radio X and BBC Radio 6 Music and features across the likes of Dork, Clash, NME, Earmilk, Notion, Under The Radar, Far Out, Ones To Watch and So Young.

Fronted by charismatic lead vocalist Seán Drury, alongside guitarist Oakley Gardiner, God of Love Gabe Rice, and drummer Charlie Pringle, Canned Pineapple’s rise has been marked by both critical acclaim and a fast-growing, passionate fanbase. With a relentless touring schedule lined up for the end of 2024 and early 2025, including stops at FiftyLab Festival (Brussels) and Third Man Records (London), Canned Pineapple are set to build on the buzz surrounding their high-energy live performances and irresistible scuzz-pop sound.
