Lagos was buzzing with excitement last night as Simi and John Legend lit up the Move Afrika stage. Organized by Global Citizen, Move Afrika is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at building a sustainable music touring circuit across Africa, boosting local economies, creating jobs, and fostering entrepreneurship in each host country.
Hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the concert delivered electrifying performances, with Simi and John Legend taking center stage while DJ Consequence kept the energy high. Simi kicked off the night with fan-favorites like “Joromi,” “Duduke,” and “Smile for Me,” setting the perfect tone for the evening. John Legend followed with a soul-stirring set, treating the audience to classics like “Ordinary People,” “PDA,” “Green Light,” and “All of Me.”

One of the most unforgettable moments of the night was when Simi joined Legend on stage for a heartfelt duet of “Refuge.” Another standout was his moving tribute to Afrobeat icon Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

But it wasn’t just about the music—the night was a celebration of culture and style. John Legend rocked outfits by Nigerian designers Eleven Sixteen and Orange Culture, while his backup vocalists stunned in Elexiay and Wanni Fuga. It was a seamless fusion of music, fashion, and African pride, making the night truly unforgettable.
