Off the back of their recent UK tour, Manchester based 6-piece Freeda are back with the shimmering new single “Chasing Yesterday” (July 29th). Formed in 2017, Freeda have built a dedicated hometown following, sold out shows at venues across Manchester including Deaf Institute and Manchester Academy 3 as well as appearing on line ups at the likes of Y Not? Festival, 110 Above and Tramlines to name just a few and sharing the stage with acts such as Sister Sledge, Spector and Giant Rooks.
The new single “Chasing Yesterday’’ is another prime example of the band’s breezy indie-pop exploits – bright uplifting instrumentation topped with melancholy tinged vocals. Awash with vibrant intertwining guitar and synth lines, the track quickly sets an upbeat tone over the bopping bass and drums before the incessantly catchy and yet subtly emotive lead vocal enters. Indie-heartbreak-pop that navigates modern romance with big beats, glittering synths and infectious riffs.
Talking about the single, Freeda described “Chasing Yesterday” as “a glimpse of better times after coming to terms with a breakdown in relationship. It’s about coming to terms with a broken relationship and acknowledging how hard you try you cannot relive the past”
Having already picked up a lot of hype, Freeda have a whole host of achievements to their name already including: Top 5 on the iTunes Alternative Chart, Radio play on Radio X, BBC Introducing (Track of the Week), Amazing Radio, XS Manchester and Sirius XM as well as gaining over 300,000 total streams on Spotify alone. Already established as one to watch, Freeda continue to stride forward in 2022 with a whole bunch of new tunes on the way. The new summer bop “Chasing Yesterday” is released July 29th.
