Los Angeles based alt-rock singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and novelist Moses Mikheyev returns with his new single ‘Black Sky, White Moon’, taken from the upcoming debut album I Only Have A Hundred Years To Love You

Making extensive use of tape machines, analogue equipment, and vintage gear Mikheyev captures a unique vintage yet fresh and vibrant sound across the upcoming album. Having established himself with the previous single ‘Hollywood Hills’ which received acclaim from Prog Magazine (Louder Sound) among others, ‘Black Sky, White Moon’ see’s Mikheyev demonstrating a more folk-pop facing side to his sound – a softer tone to compliment the prog rock sound of his other material.

Layers of acoustic and electric guitar play picked riffs top driving drums and bass while splashes of e-bow and Moses’ delay tinted vocals dance around the soundscape. Affecting, understated, catchy and atmospheric ‘Black Sky, White Moon’ showcases strong songwriting and an artist who knows his sound well enough to be comfortable experimenting with genre.

Speaking about the meaning behind the single Moses Explains: “It’s a song I wrote for a girl I fell in love with during the summer of 2018. It’s a celebration of love, magic, and all-things-beautiful. I wrote the chorus in Los Angeles, the verses on a plane ride to Portland, and all of the acoustic guitar parts in Spokane. I met the girl in Seattle”

An album nearly a decade in the writing, having recorded the first song for the record with Jimmy Hill of Amplified Wax Studios in 2012. After a brief stint as the frontman of a Christian rock band in Spokane, Washington, Mikheyev moved to Los Angeles to pursue music and novel writing full time. Mikheyev lists various influences, including Anberlin, Coldplay, The Killers, Michael Jackson, Blue October, Queen, Steve Earle, Lifehouse, Future of Forestry, Fleetwood Mac, Imagine Dragons, Journey, and many other 70s and 80s rock acts.

The upcoming album I Only Have A Hundred Years To Love You is being produced by Brandon Zano, David Kershenbaum (multi Grammy award winning producer known for his work with Duran Duran, Bryan Adams, and Tracy Chapman among others) and David Gavrishov with a planned release date in late 2023.
