Kim Kardashian Files for Divorce From Kanye West

It’s over for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. After nearly seven years of marriage, the beauty mogul officially filed for divorce from her husband on Friday, Feb. 19, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.

The split is described as “amicable as a divorce can be.” Kim is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s four children–North West, 7, Saint West, 5, Chicago West, 2, and Psalm West, 20 months. Kanye has reportedly agreed to the joint custody arrangement, and both he and Kim committed to co-parenting together.

There’s a prenup and neither party is contesting it. They are already working on a property settlement agreement.

The docs, filed by celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, don’t list a date of separation. Kim held off on officially submitting divorce documents out of concern for their children. “She wants to make sure she’s making the right decision for the kids,” a source told E! News.

Their relationship took a turn after Kanye’s presidential campaign rally in South Carolina last July, when he claimed that the couple thought about aborting their daughter North. “The comments about North and the abortion were the final confirmation. She will protect the children first, always,” said an insider.

Kim and Kanye exchanged vows during a lavish ceremony in Florence, Italy in May 2014.
