In the 66th annual ceremony held on Sunday night (February 4), a historic moment unfolded as former First Lady Michelle Obama secured her second win in the category with her 2022 best-seller, ‘The Light We Carry.’ This victory propels her into an elite group, joining only three other individuals who have earned multiple wins in this prestigious category.
Notably, Michelle Obama triumphed over esteemed figures such as Meryl Streep, William Shatner, Rick Rubin, and Bernie Sanders to claim the coveted award. Her previous win in 2020 for ‘Becoming’ marked the beginning of her legacy in this category.
Michelle Obama’s achievement as a two-time winner in the Best Audio Book category makes her only the second woman in GRAMMY history to accomplish this feat. The first was the renowned poet and Civil Rights activist Maya Angelou, who remains the most-decorated female in this category with three wins in 1994, 1996, and 1998.
