The anticipation for the 2024 BRIT Awards has reached a fever pitch with the unveiling of this year’s nominations, promising an extraordinary celebration of British music. Making history, RAYE leads the pack with an unprecedented seven nominations, marking a milestone in the BRITs’ history since its inception in 1977.

RAYE’s remarkable nominations include prestigious categories like Artist of the Year and Mastercard Album of the Year, showcasing her profound impact and success in the music industry. This achievement surpasses the previous record of six nominations held by distinguished artists such as Gorillaz, Craig David, and Robbie Williams.

The exhilarating moment of revelation occurred in a 30-minute special titled ‘Bring on The BRITs with Mastercard: The 2024 Nominations’, streamed on the BRITs’ official Instagram and Facebook channels. Hosted by Yinka Bokinni and Jack Saunders, the special took viewers through the thrilling category shortlists, featuring appearances from some of the nominated artists.

In a significant stride toward gender representation, over half (55%) of this year’s nominations feature women, either as solo artists or as part of all-women groups, reflecting the music industry’s commitment to inclusivity and diversity.

Noteworthy changes have been introduced in the Artist of the Year and International Artist of the Year categories, expanding the number of nominees from five to ten. This evolution is part of a broader initiative to enhance representation and inclusivity within the awards.

Dua Lipa, with three nominations, has been confirmed as the first performer at the main event, setting the stage for an unforgettable night. Central Cee and J Hus stand out with four nominations each, adding to the excitement of the BRITs.

A new genre award category for R&B Act has been introduced, emphasizing the diverse musical styles in the UK. This addition, along with categories like Alternative/Rock Act, Dance Act, Pop Act, and Hip Hop/Grime/Rap Act, highlights the rich tapestry of British music.

In a surprising twist, The Rolling Stones have received a BRIT award nomination after over a decade, adding a legendary touch to the evening. Other notable nominees include Blur, Calvin Harris, Dave, Little Simz, Olivia Dean, and Young Fathers, all contending for three awards each.

The winners, who will be presented with trophies designed by visual artist Rachel Jones, will be announced at The BRIT Awards with Mastercard on 2nd March at The O2 arena, with the ceremony broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX. Fans can participate in voting for the genre awards through Instagram starting 1st February.
