Jazz and soul explorers The Fabulous Red Diesel share the stunning, cathartic new single ‘Symmetry’ from their anticipated upcoming album Goddess The Seahorse.
Having already made a lasting impression on the UK jazz and soul scene with support from the likes of Jazz FM, Jazz Journal and BBC Radio 6 Music, the band have toured the UK, sell out appearances at Upstairs at Ronnie Scotts as well as festival slots including Cheltenham, Sidmouth and Rye Jazz Festivals. Building a reputation as one of the most hard working bands on the scene, The Fabulous Red Diesel are now back with new material and a string of live dates which include The 606 Club, The Verdict, Upstairs at Ronnie Scotts and Toulouse Lautrec.
With a unique and freeing creative approach to making music, The Fabulous Red Diesel create inventive soundscapes filled with depth and beauty. The new single ‘Symmetry’ is beyond expectation, offering a stunning, personal and emotive vocal performance over a melancholic soundscape of tinkling piano, bouncing double bass, subtle e-bow guitar and classic drums. As the track moves through warming tones, gentle textures and an infectiously catchy chorus,it ebbs and flows through perfectly restrained musical breaks before climaxing in the final chorus as Kat Lee-Ryan’s lead vocals shimmer with a grit and determination, hammering home the resilient message behind the single.
Speaking about the single, lead singer Kat Lee-Ryan shares: “Symmetry is a defiant imaginary conversation with my long dead father. It’s very much a ‘black sheep of the family’ story, but with a twist, as the black sheep realises how awesome it is to be a black sheep after all.
’I won’t be ignored, I won’t be denied, I am not invisible and I’m not gonna hide.
I am not your dirty little secret and you cannot make me wrong’
Family skeletons, throwing money at a problem to make it go away, and the legacy that leaves for the fully grown adult to unpick.”
The new single ‘Symmetry’ due for release in March is from the forthcoming album Goddess The Seahorse, the bands 8th album consisting of 14 breathtaking tracks and showcasing the bands best work to date.
