Nashville-based singer-songwriter Lauren Freebird has released her heartfelt new single “Ceiling Fan”, a deeply personal track that reflects on the quiet struggles within an unfulfilling relationship.
Opening with gentle acoustic guitar and soft fiddle, the song sets an intimate, reflective mood. Freebird’s delicate yet confident vocals carry a raw honesty, drawing listeners in with the line, “I’m careful, trying not to fall for what I wanna hear, all those tempting words you whisper in my ear.”
Sharing the inspiration behind the track, Freebird explained, “When we wrote ‘Ceiling Fan’, Todd had brought in a beautiful poem that offered a glimpse into the mind of a woman caught in an empty, transactional relationship. The loneliest I have ever felt was when I was not alone. The words moved us so deeply, we finished the song around a campfire in just 30 minutes.”
The track delivers vivid and poignant imagery, including the memorable metaphor, “If I move real fast my eyes can sometimes / catch a single blade / on the bedroom ceiling fan / Helps to numb these thoughts away.” It serves as a powerful symbol of distraction as self-protection.
Produced by Byron Hamlett and Trey Call at Cash Cabin in Nashville, “Ceiling Fan” was co-written by Lauren Freebird, Byron Hamlett, Todd Moore, Hal O’Dell, and Brianna Bollinger. The track was mastered by Alex McCollough and distributed by Heart Songs Music Group/Soulspazm.
With every lyric, Lauren Freebird combines vulnerability and strength, offering listeners an emotive portrayal of love’s quiet unraveling. “Ceiling Fan” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
